The Need for Mommy Time

Stay at home moms have a huge job when it comes to raising a child. This task runs twenty-four hours, seven days a week and requires love, patience and firmness.

Moms who do this, even for a few years, can often get caught up in the constant race each day to keep up with a young toddler, taking children back and forth to events and household chores. In the midst of the mad dash day after day, personal time is often lost or even forgotten. It is important for them to stop and take some “mommy time” every once in a while.

Taking a break away from your child does not mean that you are losing time with them, but is actually a necessary part of being a parent. You need a time each day, if possible, to sit down, rest and empty your mind out of all the whirling dates, chores and events that are running around in your head. It benefits you greatly, making you feel refreshed and relaxed.

One thing you can do is to take a class of some sort during the week. Do something that you enjoy, such as yoga, an art class or other activity. Grandparents and friends will be more than willing to take care of your little ones for a while to allow you to go enjoy yourself. Yoga is a wonderful option to both relax, relieve stress and get in shape. When you reduce your stress level, you can weather the tough times of being a parent much easier.

The Stress and Joy of Raising Children

Supporting a family through some sort of labor is definitely commendable, but there is no work like parenting. When the kid’s first born, you’re up all night (almost as if they’re nocturnal tll they know better). Feeding them usually works, puts the kid to sleep and leaves you with a little bit of free time to do something beyond just caring for the child. But even that isn’t guaranteed; after all, what is when it comes to parenting?

The child than starts to grow a bit older, you see their first steps and every single moment like this makes you realize that the struggle is well worth it. All of those sleepless nights are recompensed just seeing your child talk, seeing him or her walk, and so on and so forth. All things you can do with great ease but which, when done by a child, and particularly yours, are unforgettable moments that’ll be saved in your heart for a lifetime.

Of course, it goes back to being stressful soon thereafter. Now they’re in their terrible toddler phase. Everything is “mine, mine, mine” till they become thoroughly indoctrinated with the concept of “sharing is caring”. But still, you, the parent, toil on. Knowing that this child is an investment for the future, and that one day you’ll have grandchildren. And grandchildren are the best! You’ll have the enjoyment of spoiling them without any of the stresses associated with raising them. So keep strong and keep your head up high.

The Benefits of Volunteering as a Family

If you have older children, you’re probably not getting to spend as much family time together as you would like. This is a problem that many families face as kids get older and participate in more activities. Parents feel like they are “losing” their children and the time to teach them some of the important things in life that they’d like to. If this is something you are currently struggling with, then set aside a “family day/night” when everyone in the family can do something together. One of the best things to do as a family is to volunteer together.

When you and your children begin to volunteer at various places, a few things will happen. First, you’ll be able to spend some extra quality time with your family, strengthening family bonds. Most families that spend a lot of time volunteering together generally have closer bonds once the children are grown. Secondly, you’ll be teaching your children what it feels like to help people less fortunate than themselves. This is important for those who want to raise their children to become valuable members of society. Additionally, learning to put others’ needs above your own is something that many children are not taught today.

There are many ways in which you and your family can volunteer and give back to the community in a beneficial way. For example, homeless shelters and orphanages are great places to volunteer. However, you can also do other things as a family. For instance, donating your old car through Kars 4 Kids or having a garage sale and giving the proceeds to charity are also great things to do together.

Make Divorce Easier for Children – Communicate

For young children, their family is a dream place with a loving father, mother, siblings and lots of happiness. A divorce can thus bring the children out of their dream-world and can cause undue stress. Children of divorcing parents go through lots of emotional and physiological trauma and often refuse to accept the truth about their parent’s divorce. Such children can do crazy things in a hope that their parents will be together again.

To ensure that your children do not suffer such emotional disturbances, you need to talk to them. No matter what the ages of your children are, you can talk to them with a correct explanation for your separation. Of course your explanation should be well thought out, considering the ages of your children.

Tell your children that the divorce is only a separation of marriage, not of parents. Assure them that the divorce has nothing to do with them and you are still the same loving father and mother. The whole process might need a lot of time but you should be patient and explain in a manner that the children can absorb.

Some couples do not want to meet or see each other after the divorce. This can be really bad for your children. You have to compromise your personal consideration for the sake of your children. If you think you cannot come on a mutually agreeable decision, then hiring a divorce lawyer can be a good idea. Divorce lawyers have lots of experience in dealing with divorces and can help you resolve your conflicts in a wise manner. A lawyer can serve as a mediator between you and your partner and can help both of you deal with children more effectively.

It is natural that spouses getting divorced will have a hard time and so will their children. However, they need to deal with the changes and behave like a responsible parent for the better future of their children.
